The WebServe web server (freeware, open source) has been updated to version 2.2. You can get it from any of the following places:

(and probably Hobbes incoming, by the time you read this).

This version implements password authentication (for a specified subset of your web site) as specified in RFC7616 and RFC7617. Not all of the optional methods have been tested, because current web browsers have not yet caught up with the latest (2015) standards, but the parts that are supported by Firefox and Chrome and MS-Edge certainly work.
