Apparently since Oracle took over Sun, they have been less then forthcoming with Sun's open source projects, including OpenOffice and OpenSolaris, as well as Java. The OpenOffice developers have created "The Document Foundation" and apparently have now forked OpenOffice and created their own office suite LibreOffice. Though they have invited Oracle to join the project. There is currently only a beta version of LibreOffice available for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows, but full source code is available for download.
