PL/I beta for OS/2 version 0.9.2 released July 13, 2011

Monday July 25, 2011  By: Peter Flass

Iron Spring PL/I version 0.9.2 has been released. The primary enhancement in this version is multitasking, including the TASK, EVENT, and PRIORITY options of the CALL statement, TASK and EVENT variables, and the COMPLETION and STATUS builtin functions and pseudovariables.

On Linux multitasking requires a 2.6.x kernel.

Non user-visible enhancements include consolidation of the library source for
Linux and OS/2. The distributed versions of the compiler include all components
for both systems. The assembler code for the OS/2 version has been converted to
use the open-source "JWAsm" assembler rather than ALP [not without a lot of grief].

Any problems or questions contact bugs@iron-spring.com. Thanks to those who submitted a number of bug reports for previous releases. Any bugfixes not included in this release will be addressed in the next version.
