(Note the minus sign before the subversion number, a change that was forced on me by Hobbes. Once you run the program, though, you get the 3.3 which is more understandable to those of us who understand decimal notation.)

This should fix the recently reported bug - a bug so rare that it took over 20 years for anyone to notice. As Steven discovered, the bug occurs when incoming mail has a line length > 1023 characters. RFC 2822 says "Each line of characters MUST be no more than 998 characters, and SHOULD be no more than 78 characters, excluding the CRLF." I allowed for a generous 1024, but I guess you can always find software that violates the standards.
