Rules of Conduct

Since wide-spread usage of this news system will result in kind of an information monopoly, we have to be careful regarding censorship and conflict of interest issues. Also, there are some basics for operating such a service.

  • News items must not be deleted. Exceptions are items that obviously are SPAM or contain offensive material, e.g., racism, links to warez sites, or slander. In case of gray area items, contact fellow editors for a consensus.
  • Editing must not change a news item's meaning. Allowed changes include corrections for spelling, grammar, and phrasing errors; replacement of colloquial language terms; rephrasing of first person messages; addition of related information; and re-formatting for improved readability.
  • Translation must not change a news item's meaning. Allowed changes include replacement of links with equivalent ones for the target language and addition of language-specific information.
  • If you will not be available for a longer time, e.g., because of sickness or you are going on vacation, notify the news team.
